Construction Expo In Las Vegas

Prior to 2010, Canada has been fortunate enough to host two previous Olympic Games. The most recent 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary proved to be a bit of a success as many of the facilities remain as a vital part of the community. The other games held in Canada were not as successful as the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal have caused nothing but financial stress for the province of Quebec. Organizers in Vancouver can only hope that the problems of Montreal do not occur with their own city well after the Olympic Games are completed.

1976 Summer Olympics

In every which way, the 1976 Summer Olympic Games in Montreal proved to be an absolute disaster. The fact that Canada did not win a single gold medal was a side note to the many problems that existed in Montreal. When analyzing what went wrong in 1976, all one has to do is look at the giant white elephant that continues to haunt the locals in La Belle Province.

Unfortunately there are many citizens in Montreal who are unable to forget the failure that was 1976. Perhaps the biggest reminder of the mishap lies with the continued presence of the Olympic Stadium that is located in Ville Marie district of the city. The facility continued to receive negative press for decades throughout the media as the building was just recently paid off by taxpayers in 2006.
